Competition Categories

PRELIMINARY COMPETITION CATEGORIES

Each contestant participates in an individual interview with our panel of judges.

There are typically 5-7 judges on a panel.  

 

PRIVATE INTERVIEW

Interview Details:

Interview will begin with a self-introduction not to exceed 30 seconds.  The body of the interview will be a combination of questions from information given on your fact sheet as well as current events. (This can be anything from war to reality TV questions to questions about your platform.)  The interview concludes with a 30-second opportunity to make a final statement to the judges of “Why you’d like to be Miss Plus America Elite.” As well as any information you’d like the judges to know that wasn’t covered in the interview itself.

 

Interview Attire:  

The attire for the interview is business casual. You may wear a suit or a skirt and blouse, or jacket with a skirt or a dress. Shirts should be pastel pink or white and not include spaghetti straps. If you wear a dress, it must be black.

You will wear this same outfit for your panel interview. If in doubt, go with your more conservative choice. You are not seeking a sexy look. You are seeking a classy look.)

 

Scoring:  Interview counts for 50% of the total score. The judges’ decision is final.

 

ELEGANT PANT WEAR

Elegant Pant Wear Attire:

An outfit you would wear and would be appropriate if attending a formal dinner with your reverend/pastor and members of the US Supreme Court. The idea is to look elegant as opposed to sexy. Evening/formal pumps, sandals or mules are required. (Heels must be worn unless an official doctor’s note is provided.)

 

Scoring:  Elegant Pant Wear counts for 25% of the total score.

 

EVENING GOWN

Evening Gown Competition Details:

Floor length. (It may have a high-low hemline. Wear foundations. The color should contrast and compliment with your skin tone.)

 

Scoring:  

Evening Gown counts for 25% of the total score.

 

FINALS COMPETITION CATEGORIES

The preliminary scores will be tallied Friday evening.  The night of the finals the top five delegates in each division (Miss, Ms and Mrs.) will compete on stage in the following categories:

 

On-Stage Interview:

Each delegate in the top five in her division will draw a question out of the fishbowl and give it to the Emcee.The Emcee will read the question and the delegate will be given thirty seconds to answer the question. She must be able to express herself with clarity and diplomacy and exude a friendly and inviting personality.

 

Attire:  This competition will be judged at the end of the evening gown competition.   

 

Scoring:  

Onstage interview counts for 50% of the total score. The judges’ decision is final.

 

Elegant Pant Wear:
